VISIE Inc., formerly Advanced Scanners, a 3D computer vision and spatial computing company developing deep tech optical scanners for orthopedic, neuro, and spine surgery, announces it has added Addie Harris to its board of directors and Ashley Libby Diaz, PT, MBA and Michael Landry to its leadership team to support the company’s next phase of growth.

“We are on a mission to make the unseen seen in surgery, and we won’t stop until we improve the surgical experience for patients and surgeons.”

Addie Harris brings a robust history of entrepreneurship in medtech, medical devices, and robotics to the VISIE board. She is CEO of Haventure, a robotics and digital technology incubator, currently. Previously, she served as founder and CEO of Cardan Robotics (acquired by Stryker in 2019) and has held roles at well-known robotics endeavors. Ms. Harris was an R&D leader at Johnson & Johnson, founding the orthopedic robotics organization, acquiring Orthotaxy, and leading the VELYS Robotic Surgical Solution through development to commercial launch. She holds an MS and BS in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and an MS in Computer Science from Lincoln University in New Zealand, where she was a Fulbright Distinguished Fellow.

Ashley Libby Diaz, VISIE’s new Head of Marketing, brings 25-plus years of healthcare, medtech, and medical device experience to the organization. She has spent her career in strategic and leadership roles, launching game-changing orthopedic and spine medical devices and technologies for companies such as DePuy Orthopaedics, Spine Wave, OrthoView (acquired by Materialise in 2014), OrthoGrid, Simplify Medical (acquired by NuVasive in 2021), and more. Ms. Diaz brings a wealth of experience in strategic marketing, commercialization, and entrepreneurship to VISIE. She serves on the Executive Committee of Springboard Enterprises’ Life Sciences Innovation Program and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a BS in Physical Therapy from the University of Vermont.

Michael Landry, VISIE’s new Head of Engineering, is a seasoned engineering leader with nearly 30 years of experience in medical device development. Specializing in orthopedic and spine implants, he has also worked on diverse projects such as brain-computer interfaces and electromechanical consumer goods. Mr. Landry has launched more than 25 new products in regulated environments and is a named inventor on approximately 75 U.S. patents. He has extensive experience in startups, excelling in cross-functional leadership roles to translate project pipelines into actionable plans. Mr. Landry holds a MS in Biomedical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.

“I am thrilled to add such talented and experienced individuals to our board and leadership team. The company has entered a phase of growth the likes of which I have not seen before. Thanks to the strides we are making in talent acquisition and technology advancement, we are poised to take our first product to market with a partner in 2024,” says Doug Fairbanks, VISIE’s CEO.

VISIE’s optical scanners are capable of producing snap image registration with over 1M data points in a second. They are designed to simplify surgical workflow and shave significant time off robotic and navigated surgery while simultaneously increasing surgical precision by a factor greater than 10.

Says Mr. Fairbanks, “We are on a mission to make the unseen seen in surgery, and we won’t stop until we improve the surgical experience for patients and surgeons.”
